In this video I go sight fishing in perfect conditions for black crappie. I was lucky enough to capture some incredible strikes underwater and above water. Hopefully you will learn how to catch crappie in super shallow water using a light jig from watching this video. I prefer to use glow jigheads and Scuffed Baits swimbaits in glow colours. I use the glow because it helps me see fish hit my bait and helps me to see where my bait is at in relation to any crappie I might see. Crappie also love chartreuse glow colours in general. Some of the fish were stubborn so I found some stinky old minnows in my livewell and that seemed to provoke some strikes as well. In this video I don't use a float for half the fish I catch and then in the second half I use a set jig and bobber for to tackle catching crappie in submerged bushes.

What weight and size of jigs should I use?
The most popular crappie jighead size is the 1/16 ounce. From it, the next is either going up to a 1/8 ounce, or down to a 1/24. Most crappie anglers use jigheads somewhere in the range of 1/32- to 3/16-ounce. Although jigheads are similar in form and function, all are not made equal.
What's the best Color for sight fishing crappie?
I personally like the chartreuse "raver glow" Color by Scuffed Baits. I can see my bait disappear when a fish inhales it. I can see where my jig is at in the relation to the fish and cover.
